Cow-orker: Client torture

Hot off the phone to the dentist, the Cow-orker is wondering why a client is giving her grief for giving him instructions for installing software that can't possibly work on his computer.

I try to explain to her the reason the instructions she's given him can't possibly work on his computer: she knows he's using a Mac, yet she keeps giving him instructions for installing the software under Windows with the advice that "but this is how it works under Windows!" and is struggling to grasp why he doesn't find this helpful. Because his response ("This won't work for me because it doesn't work this way on a Mac") isn't enough of a hint.

She's dismissed him as being too much of a pain to deal with, and has gone to morning tea to de-stress from the whole situation.

Wow, dude. I dont know how you do it. I have been reading your page for about three years. Long time reader, first time poster. I have no idea how you do it. I work in a bar and i get the shits when people ask me questions once that actually make sense. (ie. How to you make a lemon squash?!!? or, my fave, "what goes into a vodka and coke?") I hear your pain, but only sporadically. God speed

Be thankful the client wasn't using Linux...

The idea of a Mac being "too hard" for someone to use....[shudder]

Em:
I don't know how you do it. If I was being asked those kind of questions, I'd either have put myself into an alcoholic coma by now, or started giving people extra-strength drinks to make them pass out faster.

If the client was using Linux, I'd probably be laughing myself into incontinence listening to the Cow-orker telling them why they should be using Windows, what her brother says about Linux, and doing everything possible to avoid telling the client she hadn't a clue as to what she was talking about.
