A moment's silence. Perhaps a long overdue one, because I wasn't actually watching.

I finally noticed today that the old site, Enter The Cow-orker has disappeared offline. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later (my ex-wife kept the ISP account when we separated), but somehow managed to miss when it actually went.

I don't suppose anyone remembers the last time they saw it?

(And lest anyone's worried about it being irrevocably lost, I still have all the original Cow-orker files safely backed up. Perhaps one day they'll return.)

On a cheerier note, I see Blunt Trauma will soon be celebrating it's fifth birthday. Funny, though, that it's only five years: for some reason it's felt much longer.

Hm, I started following Blunt Trauma around a year and half ago, maybe? It's because I found the "Enter the Cow-Orker" website, so it must have been up at least a year and a half ago.

Not sure here either, as Blunt Trauma has given me just enough material not to have to reminisce in the cow-orker saga. However...

Ironically, the last entry in the wayback machine is April Fool's day in 2008. At least in this medium is persists... in all likelihood this just reflects the last time archive.org got at least a slightly different rendering of the site before it disappeared. I wonder if they'll record when the site went bye-bye, but if it does, it could be up to 6 months before we find out.

Anyway, get your fix of The Cow-orker here:

For those who thought they missed out, enjoy!

For the uninitiated, that archive.org URL is one long string (starting with http:// and containing http:// in the middle too)

Andrea: I've got a vague memory that it might still have been up as recently as several months ago. I have this slightly nightmarish recollection of working my backwards through Blunt Trauma and Enter one night and dredging up memories best left forgotten.

Anonymous: Curses! There's goes my opportunity to sell it as an ebook!

Well... maybe you could ask archive.org to take it down (it's been done when sensitive information has accidentally ended up on a public site), but then, we're grabbing our own copies now... :)

As an aside, I wonder if it's possible to create an "Argh's wellbeing fund" of sorts - some channel to contribute solely to the running costs of beer (or other favoured alcoholic beverage) consumption. Whatever it takes to help you endure so you may continue to report... I'm not very financial but would still submit a modest contribution...

It was up a week or two ago - I introduced a friend to it just recently.

(years pass)

I just went searching for the original site today and found out it was gone. I remember losing many, many hours to reading through the whole way years ago and had planned on sending it to my team to destroy all productivity for the rest of the week.

Any additional thoughts on reposting or publishing the original?

Please please PLEASE republish "Enter the Cow-orker"! This is one of the few blogs I re-read, and I find I'm really missing Classic Cow-orker...
